The wacky culture, of wacky Shlumberturt

Introduction

Shlumberturt isn’t known for the culture, but that’s not to say there isn’t any!

Because of the two different environments the cultures are also pretty different, if you don’t know go to the “Climate / Nature” page. On the summer side the culture is very centered around farming. Meanwhile on the winter side it’s very centered around hunting.

Discrimination

Unfortunately discrimination is a relatively big problem in Shlumberturt.

The people of the different sides have kind of a rivalry. This obviously has some problems especially in the capital, Shlamfarbargarted, which is located right in the middle of the country meaning half the city is on the warm side and the other half is on the cold side. This sort of discrimination has always been there, and the only thing they argue is “who’s better”, and the only argument each side has is “You can’t handle the heat! Weakling!" or “You can’t handle the cold! Weakling". They also have slurs towards each other, notebly “Winturds” and “Warmpires” against the winter side or summer side respectively. Luckily it’s getting better with the newer generations, so we can only hope that it'll be gone soon.

Religion

Religion isn’t very common in Shlumberturt but they do have their own religion. Their god is called RadDog, and RadDog doesn’t really have any principles. The only thing RadDog wants is for you to be rad, dog.

To live by RadDogs will is to live by your own will, the difference between RadDogism and not believing in any religion, is very miniscule. Here is an interpretation of RadDog. buuubi

And boy is that one rad dog.

Language

Shlumberturt has one main language, but the language is made of two different languages. The people of Shlumberturt switch between speaking Danish and English constantly, so if you can speak Danish or English you can understand about half of the language. People learn both languages and there aren't any rules about how many times per sentence you can switch, or specific words that are always English or Danish. Because of this, Shlumberturtian is kind of a difficult language to learn even though you speak one of the languages. It can even be difficult to understand for people who speak both languages, since they switch so often. A common way for the youngins to speak is actually to sprinkle in a few German words, mostly numbers, and various small words such as "nein" and "Scheiße".

One last thing. They really like snakes. No real reason but they really like snakes. Often they hide snakes throughout cities or even websites. Most Shlumberturtians have hid some kind of snake. Maybe even in this website?
